Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Police then located many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests show the liquid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.
A high-ranking political figure stated the attack rendered him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in 2020.
